LAHORE - The Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited has expedited its drive for the recovery of Rs 1.5b non-performing loans (NPLs), as the bank has recovered Rs 1.26 billion in cash whereas property of defaulters amounting to Rs 253.51 million has been got transferred in the name of the bank. It was informed in a briefing offered to the Registrar Cooperatives Punjab, Sheryar Sultan. Acting president PPCBL, Muhammad Ayub and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. It was told in the meeting that the bank is disbursing Kharif-2012 crop loans of Rs 2.5 billion to the small farmers through cooperative societies up to 31st of July 2012 enabling them to meet their agricultural requirements. He was told that restructuring of the bank is under way and e-mail & internet facilities have been provided to all the branches. The Zonal branches of Lahore, Multan & Faisalabad have been provided online banking facilities and all rest of the branches will be connected online soon. The Registrar Cooperatives Punjab, Sheryar Sultan directed the officers to accelerate recovery of bank’s loans particularly NPLs and achieve the target of disbursement of Kharif-2012 crop loan.
