Water shortage persists in Chaklala, Cantt areas




RAWALPINDI - The current monsoon spell has increased water level in Khanpur Dam but water shortage persist in some parts of Chaklala and Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, adding to the woes of the residents.The residents talking to this agency said that water supply from Khanpur Dam has been increased but consumers were being provided water for half an hour on every alternate day, which was not sufficient to meet their demand.They said that water supply for just 30 minutes was an absolute injustice as water consumption increases many times during summer season. Muhammad Zahid said that water pressure remains very low besides water is supplied for half an hour and the some time they do not get it for two days owing to power outages.On the other hand, water supply lines were spread some eight months back in Nai Abadi area of the Cantonment but provision of water could not be ensured. The residents said that authorities should provide water during the holy month of Ramazan.Meanwhile, residents of Chaklala Cantonment complained of dirty water and demanded chlorination and cleanliness of underground and overhead water tank, which supply water to Askari-1, 5.
