KARACHI Host Karachi Region maintained their overall superiority in the 13th Sindh Games by clinching the Moenjodaro Shield for overall championship trophy of the Games winning 144 medals including 96 gold medals in the three-day sports gala which was concluded here Wednesday. The closing ceremony of the games was held at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium under floodlights. Thousands of sports persons belonging to five regions of the province took part in the competitions. Karachi, which dominated unchallenged the last 12 editions of the Games since its inception in 1986 at Larkana, kept its hold and won maximum number of medals at stake in the 13th edition of the Games. Karachi, which took 78 gold medals in the last Games held last year at Larkana improved its performance this time by clinching 96 gold medals. Karachi was totally dominated in swimming KHIate, boxing, gymnastics, wushu, wrestling and athletics in which it had the lions share of medals on offer.
