Entry of ‘culprits’ in bar banned

MULTAN - The lawyers expressed complete solidarity with the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Supreme Court as they brought out a rally and staged a demonstration in his support here at Chowk Katchehry on Saturday. The rally was organised by District Bar Association Multan (DBAM) and its President Allah Ditta Kashif Bosan led the lawyers. Through a unanimously adopted resolution, the bar imposed ban on entry of all those in the bar room who talked against judiciary or insulted it.
Earlier, the black coats came out of bar hall in shape of rally and marched up to Chowk Katchehry.
Holding placards, banners and black flags, the lawyers shouted slogans against federal government, a TV channel and Malik Riaz. The protesters staged a sit-in at the Chowk and blocked the roads. Resultantly, a severe traffic jam took place.
Speaking on this occasion, Hafiz Allah Ditta Kashif and others said that a property dealer wanted to turn entire country into his real estate agency on the orders of his masters sitting in presidency. They added that Malik Riaz deserved death sentence for hatching this conspiracy against Supreme Court of Pakistan. “He should be trialled and hanged,” they demanded. They pointed out that the private TV channel that aired the interview of Malik Riaz as well as the anchor persons also committed contempt of court and a strict action should be taken against them.
Earlier, the lawyers observed complete strike after 10:30 and boycotted the courts. Heavy police contingents were deployed outside district courts to avert any untoward incident.
ICMAP students earns laurel:  A student of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) Multan has won second position in a country-wide Presentation and Communication Skills competition.
The contest took place in Lahore and ICMA students from across the country participated in it. Irfan Sagheer Gull, student of stage-111 at ICMAP Multan, stood second.
Meanwhile, ICMAP teachers have congratulated Irfan Sagheer Gull. They said that the students of other ICMA campuses prepared for the competition since long but Irfan won the title after preparation of just 15 days.

Funds for MIC extension project released: Punjab Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi disclosed on Saturday that the funds for completion of emergency ward extension project at Multan Institute of Cardiology had been released and work on the project would be resumed soon.
Talking to the journalists here during a visit to the MIC, he said that the funds lapsed because of termination of financial year and now they were allocated again.
He said that the MIC was being made the best heart hospital of Pakistan and the facilities available here would not be found in any other hospital of the country. He said that the provincial government utilized all out resources to provide facilities and machinery to the hospitals. He added that construction of Mian Shahbaz Sharif General Hospital was also part of government’s vision to provide healthcare facilities to the citizens at their doorstep.
