LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday extended until March 24 a stay against trial proceedings of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf worker Haq Nawaz who was murdered in Faisalabad last year.
The bench extended the stay as the counsel of the Punjab government sought more time to submit reply. The petition was moved by Ata Muhammad, the deceased’s brother, against JIT report.
The petitioner had submitted that JIT report did not nominate the main culprits involved in killing of his brother Haq Nawaz.
He said police had nominated Rana Sanaullah and his son in law Rana Sheryar, Abid Sher Ali, DCO Faisalabad Noorul Amin Mengal among 300 other suspects in the FIR. He said police nominated the above said accused in the FIR but the JIT did not interrogate them and not mention them in report.
The petitioner requested the court to set aside the JIT report and order to hold investigation afresh strictly on merit.
