Kharal appointed FDE head

Islamabad - The Prime Minister yesterday appointed Ali Ahmad Kharal as the permanent director general of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).
The appointment was made in the wake of Supreme Court’s orders that had asked for a permanent appointment of DG from within the department sending back Moin Uddin Wani to his parent department who was holding the charge of DG at that time.
On February 1, a three-member bench headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim had set aside Wani’s appointment and directed the appointment of an eligible officer from within the organisation for overseeing 422 schools and colleges in Islamabad Capital Territory in accordance with the rules and procedures.
The apex court bench had taken strong exception to the appointment of Wani, a grade-19 officer, on a grade-20 post.
The court had issued the order on a contempt plea filed by former FDE Director General Shahnaz A Riaz challenging her removal from the post on April 7, 2015, in violation of court’s orders. She has been appointed as DG on the court’s orders and was removed by Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) time and again on the pretext of one or other reasons.
Kharal, a grade-20 officer, has been heading Islamabad Model College for Boys, G-10/4. His name was sent to the PM by the CADD along with two other names to fill the slot. The prime minister approved the posting of Kharal out of the three names.
