Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind on Saturday, where they reviewed key political developments, foreign affairs, and national security issues.
During the discussion, Shehbaz Sharif provided a comprehensive briefing on the progress of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, ongoing political dynamics, and recent engagements with international leaders and delegations. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was also present at the meeting.
The Prime Minister commended the valor of Pakistan's armed forces and the resilience of the people, describing their unity as a historic milestone in the country’s military narrative. He noted that the nation faced recent challenges with strategic intelligence and collective resolve.
Shehbaz Sharif criticized India for refusing to investigate the Pahalgam incident, accusing Indian authorities of making baseless claims while avoiding accountability. He lauded Pakistani soldiers for their swift and brave response, marking what he called a moment that would be remembered by both allies and adversaries.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s military, backed by the unwavering support of its people, had successfully defended the nation, earning international recognition for its strength and unity.
Turning to economic matters, the Prime Minister updated Nawaz Sharif on recent developments, including the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) release of a $1 billion loan installment, despite Indian opposition. The IMF’s review of Pakistan’s economic indicators led to the green light for the funds.
Shehbaz added that the economy is heading in the right direction and that the government is in active talks with the IMF regarding the upcoming budget. Targets for the 2025-26 fiscal year will be finalized in close consultation.
Concluding the meeting, Nawaz Sharif urged Shehbaz to intensify efforts to deliver greater relief to the public and expressed satisfaction over Pakistan’s steady progress across multiple sectors.
