Vehari - In line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and on the special instructions of Deputy Commissioner Vehari Imrana Touqeer, District Vehari observed Youm-e-Tashakkur (Day of Gratitude) with great national fervor and unity to celebrate the historic success of Operation Bunyān Mursūs.
The day began with Quran recitation and special prayers held in mosques across Vehari, Burewala, and Mailsi, invoking divine blessings for national security, peace, and the elevation of the ranks of martyrs.A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the DC Office Vehari where MPA Mian Saqib Khurshid and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Muzaffar Khan jointly raised the national flag.
A smart contingent of Rescue 1122 and Jail Police presented a salute, and a grand rally from District Council Hall to V Chowk was led by the MPA and ADC Finance. The rally participants chanted patriotic slogans and displayed Pakistani flags on motorbikes and vehicles, honoring the armed forces’ valiant role.Later in the day, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Syed Usman Muneer Bukhari paid homage at the mausoleum of Major Tufail Mohammad Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider), Vehari’s legendary son.
Pakistan Army personnel presented a salute and floral wreaths were laid, accompanied by prayers for the martyrs.District Police Officer Muhammad Afzal and SP Investigation Farooq Ahmad Kamyana also visited the shrine of Major Tufail Shaheed, offering wreaths and prayers, expressing pride in the unmatched courage and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces.A separate commemorative event was held at District Council Hall, organized by the Revenue Department, where Assistant Commissioner Ghazala Kanwal and Tehsildar Malik Javed paid tribute by laying flowers in honor of the martyrs.
AC Ghazala Kanwal stated that the sacrifices of martyrs are the nation’s true pride, and their memory strengthens the resolve of the people to stand united with their armed forces.
Concluding the day, Special Secretary School Education South Punjab Dr. Ubaidullah Khokhar visited Vehari and attended a ceremony held by the School Education Department.
