LAKKI MARWAT - Youm-e-Tashakkur (Thanksgiving Day) was observed with a spirit of national unity, dignity, and respect in the districts of Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and Karak on Friday.
In Lakki Marwat, the Education Department, with the support of the Boy Scouts Association, organized a function at Government Shaheed Muhammad Ghassan Khan Centennial Model High School No. 1 in Lakki City.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Habibullah Wazir hoisted the national flag, while a contingent of Boy Scouts presented a salute. Students sang patriotic songs and delivered speeches emphasizing that unity, peace, and patriotism represent the true strength of the nation.
Wazir paid tribute to the valiant armed forces for safeguarding national sovereignty and affirmed that the entire nation stands behind them in defence of the country’s integrity, survival, and independence. He later led a rally that began at the school and concluded at Children’s Park.
Lakki Marwat Deputy Commissioner Zeeshan Abdullah, along with Brigadier Imran Aslam, also hoisted the flag at the DC’s compound in the District Headquarters Complex, Tajazai. This was followed by a large rally attended by government employees and people from various walks of life.
At the University of Lakki Marwat, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Aurangzeb Khan led a Thanksgiving Day rally at the Town Campus, which saw participation from faculty members and students. He hoisted the national flag and expressed gratitude by paying tribute to the Pakistani armed forces for their befitting response to Indian aggression.
Flag hoisting and Khatm-e-Quran ceremonies were also held in other government and private schools across the district in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
In Bannu, Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shah, along with Commander 116 Brigade Naveed Ahmad, performed the flag hoisting. The Divisional Commissioner also led a rally held to pay tribute to the armed forces and to reaffirm the nation’s commitment to unity and stability. Additional Deputy Commissioner Aminullah, Assistant Commissioner Allah Nawaz, other government officials, religious scholars, and community elders also participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali said that the armed forces and the entire nation are united when it comes to defending the sovereignty of the motherland.
In Karak, Deputy Commissioner Shakil Ahmad Jan led a rally to observe Youm-e-Tashakkur with national fervour. Participants raised patriotic slogans in support of the army and gathered at the Circuit House. Shakil also laid floral wreaths on the graves of martyrs and offered Fateha for their elevated ranks.
