Tribute paid to Allama Iqbal

ISLAMABAD (APP) Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal, through his poetry, urged younger generation to get education emphasising to keep focus on history and civilisation as it is the only way to attain success in life. This was stated by Firdous Alam, Chief Coordinator, Extra-curricular Activities, Ali Trust College, delivering a lecture at National Language Authority. He said Iqbal gave a message of love, unity and peace to the people all over the world. The lecture titled Historical and Cultural Aspect of Allama Iqbals Thoughts was arranged by the Society of Asian Civilization under its series of lectures regarding Asian Civilization. Firdous said Iqbals writing represented both public and literary spheres of life. He developed a unique image of poets and did not restrict them to the literary houses but encouraged them to play vital role in the society. He also highlighted different aspects of Iqbals personality and elaborated the relationship of history and civilization. Our lives will be meaningless if we seperate it from our history and culture, he added. Chairman NLA, Iftikhar Airf chairing the programme said Iqbals thoughts covering all aspects of human life should be transferred to the coming generation as there is dire need to connect them to their history and culture. President of the society Dr Razia Sultana, Secretary ZA Qureshi and Naeem Qureshi were also present on the occasion. The lecture was attended by a number of literary personalities, students, academia and other people.
