ISLAMABAD (PR) - Thousands of workers of government, semi-government and private sector held a protest rally against price-hike Tuesday under the aegis of All Pakistan Workers Confederation (regd) at Islamabad Press Club.
The participants of the rally demanded of the federal and provincial governments to check rising prices of essential commodities and take measures to control the prices.
They urged the prime minister and federal finance adviser to raise wages and pension and allowances of the workers Rs50percent in the federal budget whereas the government of Pakistan had already raised emoluments of the legislators 150 percent and regularize the workers. The protest rally was participated by the trade union representatives and workers belonging to Electricity/Wapda, Railways, telecommunication, textile, engineering, chemical, fertilizer, PWD, irrigation, banks and other entities from all parts of the country.
The rally was addressed by Khurshid Ahmad, general secretary of the Confederation.
