Need stressed to conduct research on Indus valley civilisation

KARACHI - Nations always feel proud upon their glorious history, therefore, we should also feel proud on our one of the most ancient civilisation of the world, Indus valley civilisation.

The research being done on Indus valley civilisation presently in many foreign universities is not moving in right direction as actual fact is being distorted ruthlessly. In this situation, it has become very necessary for our universities, scholars, students and historians to conduct research on Indus valley civilisation to bring the real facts of this civilisation in picture.

These views were expressed by Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) Karachi faculty member of Business Administration & Social Sciences, Ali Nasir during his second lecture on Indus valley civilisation. It may be mentioned here that a series of lectures on Indus Valley civilisation has been started at M.A .Jinnah University recently to create awareness among the young generation about the actual history of the sub continent.

Speaking on this occasion, Ali Nasir said it is an unresolved mystery that the citizens of this one of the most ancient civilisation that from where they came and where they had gone who did not left any evidence about them. He said that is not the responsibility of archaeologist only to continue research on Indus valley civilisation, all those people who love with their history and culture to come forward for research one one of the most developed and civilized civilisation. He said that Mohenjo-daro which was the biggest city of Indus Valley civilisation was the first housing society of the world.

Ali Nasir said that The house were made in this city in a very planned way, plots were allotted with a proper plan, maps were made before construction and double storied houses were also made at that time. He said that it shows they had proper town planners, architect and engineers at that time and under their supervision straight streets and roads were also constructed.

He said that is very strange that in Karachi at present we do not find any straight road constructed which were constructed five thousand year back in Mohenjo-Daro. He said proper water drainage system and water storage was being done without electric motors at that time. He said that people of Indus civilisation who were speaking and writing their own language, still us are unable to read it and efforts are underway in this regard.

He said that the people had no weapons at that time is need research that without weapons how they were defending from animals attacks and hunting to have meat for food. Ali Nasir said that the grave yard found at Mohenjo-Daro was found empty and no proof of any dead body was available there. He said that it is a matter of research that who threatened the people at that time to leave the city.

He asked the students to take interest to study the history of this region in which they are living and one should not be biased while studying history. He said the nations who learn lesson from the mistakes done in past move forward for a bright future.

He further said the nations who did not learn lesson from their mistake could not survive for a long time and lost their existence in history also.

Those who attended this lecture were included Associate Dean, Business Administration & Social Science, Dr Shujaat Mubarak, Sr. faculty members Dr Qazi Adnan, Syed Hasnain Alam Kazmi, Syed Mutaher Hussain and Abdul Wahab.
