rawalpindi - City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi issued orders for demotion of 197 cops in light of the Supreme Court’s verdict against out-of-turn promotions.
According to details, demoted cops include one inspector, seven sub-inspectors, three assistant sub-inspectors, 68 head constables and 118 constables. Inspector Naseer Ahmed, who is posted at Kasur, and SIs including SHO PS Westridge Nadeem Zafar, Muhammad Hafeez, Fida Hussain, Akhter Mehmood, Mazhar Iqbal and Shama Naz have been reverted to their previous ran. The demoted ASIs are identified as Abdul Ghafoor, Shaukat Ali and Waheed ul Hassan, sources said.
A notification in this regard has also been issued by the CPO, sources said.
On the other hand, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera also demoted some 19 police officers to their previous ranks. Among these police bosses, some had served in Rawalpindi on top posts while one officer Karamat Ullah Malik is still holding the key office of senior superintendent of police (operations).
The others included Umar Akhter Hayyat Lalayka, Rana Shahid Pervaiz, SSP Raja Zarahat Kiyani, SSP Javed Shah, SSP Jamil Ahmed, SSP CIA Lahore Chaudhry Umar Virk and a martyred SP Muhammad Tariq Kamboh.
