Gilani asks Nawaz not to publicly flay NAB

RAHIM YAR KHAN

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should not criticise the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in public gatherings, said former premier Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani here on Wednesday.
“If he (Nawaz) discusses the role of NAB in the Parliament, all the political parties will show their reservations about it,” Gillani said during a press conference at Jamal Din Wali, some 40 kolimetres from here.
He was arrived here to address the convention of PPP Southern Punjab. He said that he was already facing pressure of NAB since long but some persons who are fearing pressure from the bureau started criticising it.
He said that PPP was expressing its reservations over the partial role of NAB for a long time. He further said that Nawaz Sharif always talked about the democracy and charter of democracy so PML-N should accept the mandate of PPP in district Rahim Yar Khan for district council chairman and should not create hurdles in the transparent election process.
He said that PML-N was not ready to accept the strength of PPP in Azad Kashmir, and added that it was a non-democratic behaviour. He said that PPP had issued show cause notices to former president PPP Southern Punjab Makhdoom Shahbuddin and former PPP MPA Makhdoom Irtaza Hashmi on violation of party discipline but they were still in the party.
On the occasion, PPP Southern Punjab President Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood said that PML-N leaders could not snatch the chairmanship of district council through power the PPP had got in the local bodies elections in the district with the help of people.
Earlier, PPP South Punjab convention was held in which GS Shouket Basra, Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Javed Warriach, Javed Akbar Dhaloon, Shazia Abid and Shagufta discussed the party matters.
