Zakra Begum, wife of eminent Shaheed kashmir freedom fighter Maqbool Butt, died in Karachi, her family sources confirmed.

Funeral prayer would be offered at University Campus in Karachi. Zakra Begum was the second wife of late Maqbool Butt. She was teacher at the time of marriage.

Maqbool Butt was buried at Tihar Jail in New Delhi after he was hanged by India in the same prison on February 11 in 1984 for raising the beacon of freedom of the motherland from the Indian subjugation.

Kashmiri leaders Altaf Hussain Wani and Raja Muzaffar Hussain have expressed deep sense of shock and grief over the demise of the wife of Maqbool Butt. In a message of condolence to the bereaved family, the two leaders expressed deepest sympathies with her daughter and sons Javed Maqbool Butt and Shaukat Maqbool Butt.

They prayed for the rest of the departed soul in eternal peace and grant of fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with courage.
