rawalpindi - An anti-terrorism court yesterday awarded 10-year imprisonment to a convict for selling hate religious material in Jhelum district. The police arrested the accused from the courtroom soon after announcement of the verdict and shifted him to Adiala Jail amid tight security.

According to details, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Special Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub Marth took up hearing in the case and convicted Sheikh Saifullah son of Muhammad Saleem for spreading sectarian hatred and collecting funds for terrorism after he was arrested selling hate material in Jhelum.

The court granted five years jail for selling hatred material and five more years for raising funds for banned outfits. The court ordered the convict to pay Rs 50,000 as fine for each offence and he has to undergo another two-month jail term in case of non-payment of the fine.

In May 2015, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) held Saifullah when he was selling CDs containing hatred speeches. The CD contained volume-IV of speeches by Maulvi Hassan Dogra. The material had also been banned the Muttahida Ulema Board of Punjab.

Saifullah was on post-arrest bail granted by the court and was handcuffed by the police after the ATC announced the verdict.
