MALAKWAL- As many as 18 years have elapsed since Malakwal got the status of Tehsil yet the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Malakwal has not been upgraded to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) so far. It is pertinent to mention that the land has been acquired on Bhadhshapur Road and Rs40 million have been allocated by the Punjab government for the construction of the proposed THQ but the so-called Red Tape could not be scratched out. Currently, both the MPA and MNA belong to Pakistan Peoples Party. MPA Waseem Afzal has been the part of the ruling alliance of PML-N and PPP during the past three years and MNA Nazar Muhammad Gondal had been the Federal Minister for Food yet no initiative could be taken to materialize the much needed long standing demand of people of the area. Moreover, the BHU also lacks X-ray and ultrasound machine, ECG and other facilities that forces 0.3 million people to approach costly private hospitals. The social organisations like Anjuman-e-Haqooq-e-Shahrian, Citizen Forum, Tanzeem-e-Zawia and others have demanded the government to stop indifference towards the problems of people of the area and start construction of the THQ hospital forthwith. RELOCATION OF FRUIT, VEG MARKET: No step has been taken to relocate the fruit and vegetable commission shops situated outside main populated area, while the people belonging to the city have called upon the high ups to take action as soon as possible. Many commission shops are situated on Jinnah Road and main Bazaar of the city. The reason to relocate these shops to some other suitable area is that the owners hold their auction on the road, resulting in blocking the road in morning. The resident have called upon the Punjab Chief Minister to take notice of the matter as the local administration have turned a deaf ear to their problems.
