ISLAMABAD (APP) Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has exported over 2.6 million labourers abroad during the last ten years from July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2011. Talking to the news agency, Director General of BEOE, Habib-ur-Rehman Khan said that from the date of establishment of BEOE to till date sent 5.5 million people to the different countries of the world and government receiving huge remittances every year. He said that Overseas Pakistanis has sent over $11 billion remittances during the last fiscal year July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 while 24pc increased during last three years. Habib informed that 1,542 emigration agencies are registered but still around 1,100 functioning across the country adding that BEOE receiving Rs 3 lakhs per new licence registration and few thousand for its renewal. He said that present government extended the infrastructure of BEOE to provide the best service to emigrants and taking more steps for its betterment. To a question, Habib said that in 2008 around 4 lakhs labours were exported to the different countries which was a record and adding that 90 percent labours exported to GCC countries.
