MIRPUR (AJK) - The two-day Urs celebrations of eminent spiritual leader, saint and preacher of Islam in the subcontinent Baba Peer-a-Shah Ghazi, known as Damri Wali Sarkar, concluded here at his shrine at Khari Sharif in Mirpur Azad Jammu Kashmir on Sunday. Special arrangements were made to observe the Urs celebrations in a befitting manner under the aegis of the Mirpur district administration with the coordination of the Auqaf Department. District Magistrate Mirpur Muhammad Tayyeb Chaudhry has also announced local holiday on Monday (today) in Mirpur district in connection with the Urs to facilitate the pilgrims and devotees as the two-day Urs celebrations were attended by millions of devotees from across the country including AJK. Earlier, the inaugural functions were held at the mausoleum of the saint wherein speakers including eminent ulema, Naat Khawan and other religious scholars paid glorious tributes to Hazrat Baba Peer-e-Shah Ghazi for his great services, along with his associate Auliya Karam for preaching and publications of the teachings of Islam in the subcontinent and particularly in the area. Thousands of devotees and admirers of the renowned saint from across the country and including Azad Jammu Kashmir have started pouring in at the mausoleum of the spiritual leader to attend the Urs celebrations by bringing boughs and law floral wreaths at the shrine to pay rich tributes to the late preacher of Islam for his great services for preaching and upholding the teachings of Islam in the region. On the occasion, prominent scholars, naat Khawan and poets are presenting the mystic poetry of great Saint and Arif-e-Khari Sharif Hazrat Mian Muhammad Bakhsh (RA).
