Christian Bale wants to go out on top

CHRISTIAN Bale reiterated that The Dark Night Rises will be the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series as he walked the red carpet at the hotly anticipated film’s New York premiere.
Speaking to E! News last night, the British actor explained: ‘It’s bittersweet, but I think though that Chris [Nolan] is such a good storyteller, if he says it’s the right time to finish, it’s the right time to finish.’ But despite his willingness to hang up his batman suit, Bale walks away with a heavy heart. ‘It’s the only character I’ve played three times and there’s certainly a lot more stories that could be told, he’s a really interesting character, but enough’s enough. ‘It’s nice to leave when we’re out on top instead of leaving people wanting less.’
Elsewhere on the red carpet the 38-year-old heartthrob and the rest of the cast reminisced over their favourite scenes from the trilogy.
Bale recalled the first scene in which Bruce Wayne shared his idea for the Caped Crusader with Alfred. ‘There’s a scene where Michael Caine’s character, Alfred, and myself as Bruce are sitting on the plane and we first talk about the symbol of Batman and who he is and why,’ he explained. ‘That really sets up what is going to happen for the next three movies.’                 –Metro
