LAHORE – Pakistan renowned weightlifters showing no confidence on Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) urged the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) to impose immediate ad-hoc on the body.
This decision was taken in the meeting held under the presidency of former South Asian gold medalist Chaudhry Ameen while M Idrees Butt, Prof Khizar Hayat, M Azhar, Olympian Azam Mian, Col (retd) Asif Dar, Aqeel Javed Butt and coaches and referees of various weightlifting departments and clubs were also present on the occasion.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Ch Ameen and Idrees Butt said that few people had been occupying the weightlifting federation since last eight years and they were producing no results rather grabbing the rights of deserving players and officials while rewarding the incompetent people of the body.
“Every year, the International Weightlifting Federation grants hundred thousand dollars to the body but they did not hold national championships in 2006, 2007 and 2011,” they said.
They, on behalf of all the renowned weightlifters of the country, urged the PSB and POA chiefs to look into the matter and save weightlifting from further decline by imposing ad-hoc as soon as possible.
