LAHORE – The chief eyewitness of Tipu Truckanwala murder case, Malik Ehsan, was shot dead while his friend sustained multiple injuries when two unidentified armed men sprayed a volley of bullets on a car occupied by the victims near Nila Gumbad in broad daylight on Tuesday.

Malik Ehsan was sitting on front side along with his friend Imdad Hussain when two motorcyclists opened fire on them and fled from the scene, leaving them in a pool of blood.

Malik Ehsan visited the Mayo Hospital to enquire after his ailing maternal uncle there on early Tuesday.

Later, he has to visit an Investigation Officer (IO) Imtiaz Ahmed at Qurban Police Lines in connection with a murder case.

The duo was taking turn outside the main gate of the Mayo Hospital when a young assassin in his late 20s clad in shalwar qameez holding automatic sophisticated firearm sprayed straight bullets on them. Subsequently, both sustained multiple bullet injuries but pathetically none of the local residents arrived to help them.

A local, however, told the reporters that he telephoned Emergency Service Rescue 1122 but no official or van approached before an hour. Police said Malik Ehsan died on the spot while Imdad Hussain, in critical condition himself approached the hospital for his medical treatment, as none from the surroundings came to help him.

Police sources said Imdad Hussain’s Brother Zakir Hussain alias Mona Jutt was gunned down by a notorious drug peddler Jamel alias Jela in 2009 at Barkat Town Shahdara.  “Later, another man Dilawar Hussain alias Jani Jutt was also killed by the same killer group on the same professional quarrel,” they stated. Later, Imdad Hussain had submitted an application for change of investigation in session court and the case was referred to RPO Sheikhupura DIG Zulfiqar Cheema. “On Tuesday, IO Imtiaz Ahmed, subordinate of Cheema, had called both parties to record statements, but this tragic incident changed the situation,” they added.

Imdad Hussain told reporters that police after taking huge bribe was extending their cooperation for Bilo and his accomplices, who had killed his two brothers so far. “At least seven bullets were fired on me and four on Malik Ehsan in recent attack, carried out by Bilo and his accomplices,” he added.

Later, the case was registered against unnamed killers with no arrest until filing of this report. The body has been removed to the City morgue for autopsy.
