Ulema urged to play role for peace





LAHORE - Commissioner Lahore Division, Jawad Rafique Malik and Member National Assembly Mian Marghoob Ahmed has emphasized the ulema of different schools of thought to play their active role for maintaining brotherhood and stability in the country from their platforms and to unveil those spreading sectarianism.
They were presiding over a meeting of Divisional Peace Committee held to review the issues of Ramazan at Commissioners office, on Tuesday. The commissioner said the Ulema should raise an effective voice to promote religious harmony among the people. He further said that they should also educate the people about the brotherhood and religious harmony so that they could perform their religious and worldly affairs with improved manner.
The commissioner made it clear that no thought provoking speeches, writings and wall chalking would be allowed. He further emphasized that Ulema should conduct a anti-dengue and anti-polio awareness campaign among the people in the Jumma congregations.
In the meeting, the Ulema presented their proposals with regard to security; loadshedding and parking on which the Commissioner assured that implementation would be made on the positive proposals.
In the meeting, Mian Marghoob Ahmed said that collective efforts should be made for maintaining peace and tranquility in the Ramazan and every conspiracy against peace would be foiled.
