PESHAWAR - Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao (PPP-S) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Sunday that elements conspiring against judiciary would be exposed soon.
Addressing a public gathering in Buner, he termed the crisis is a national drama that has been staged by vested interest elements to fulfil their nefarious designs.
He said that only independent judicial system could guarantee a strong democracy, which in turn could strengthen the state institutions.
“The corrupt elements want to malign judiciary, however, we’ll not let anyone achieve its vicious goals,” he said adding PPP-S always stands by free and independent judiciary.
Speaking about Afghanistan, he said that Pakistan’s interest must be taken into account by the international community as it has been rendering sacrifices since 33 years. “The government must leave no stone unturned in protecting Pakistan’s interests in the region,” he demanded.
He said that Pakistan must evolve a comprehensive strategy in view of International Security Assistance Forces’ pullout by 2014 to protect its national interest and shape its destiny.
Referring towards development activities in Malakand Division, he said that so-called protectors of Pakhtun’s rights received funds worth billions but spent nothing to compensate the militancy and flood-hit people of the area.
“Reconstruction so far is either done by international NGOs or by friendly countries,” he said, warning that both federal and provincial government would be held accountable for misappropriation of development funds.
Referring to the ANP government’s performance, he said that the so-called champions of Pakhtuns’ rights did nothing for its people. “Even they failed to force the federal government pay its shares under net hydel profit,” the PPP-S leader said.
He said he had always raised voice for the Pakhtuns’ rights and if voted to power would prove that only PPP-S has the ability to steer them out of the prevailing crises.
