2 women among four die in road accidents

LAHORE - Four people including two women were killed and four others were injured in separate road accidents in City on Tuesday. Reportedly, Muhammad Numan was going to meet his relatives on a motorcycle along with his wife Uzma and a minor child. When he reached the Bund Road in Shafiq Abad police limits, suddenly, a rashly driven truck hit the bike. All the three including the minor sustained multiple injuries. The truck driver fled from the scene leaving his vehicle on the road. The injured were rushed to the Mayo Hospital where Uzma succumbed to injuries while condition of Numan was stated to be critical. Police have registered a case against the unknown driver with no arrest so far. Similarly, two youngsters died while two others sustained multiple head injuries when their motorcycles collided with each other in Kotlakhapt police limits. Police said Sameer Masih and his friend Sarfaraz, both residents of Kasur, came to Lahore on a motorcycle to meet their friends. As soon as they reached near Guwala Colony, their bike collided with another bike coming from the opposite side. Resultantly, all the four youngsters sustained critical head injuries and were rushed to the Lahore General Hospital where Latif and Sumeer were pronounced dead while condition of other two injured was stated to be critical. A 70-year-old woman Sakina Bibi was crushed to death by a rashly driven vehicle when she was crossing a road in Manga Mandi police limits. The elderly woman, a resident of same area, was immediately rushed to the Jinnah Hospital but died on the way. The unknown driver, however, fled from the scene along with his vehicle. Pick-up van driver killed A 40-year-old driver of a pick-up van was allegedly strangulated to death by unknown men in Kahna area on Tuesday. Deceased Muhammad Ramzan was resident of Mustafa Abad and father of two children. Muhammad Ramzan left his residence for work on Tuesday morning but did not return till evening. His family contacted him on his cell phone but found no response despite repeated efforts. In the meantime, some locals found a pick up van parked alongside the canal in Kahna police limits and later spotted body of an unknown man floating in the canal some yards away from the pick up van. They informed the local police which reached at the spot and shifted body of the deceased to the City morgue for autopsy. Police investigators said that during thorough search of the vehicle police found some documents that identified the deceased a resident of Mustafa Abad. His father and two brothers told the police that Ramzan had no enmity with anyone and he was very honest and humble. He said Ramzan was tortured before his murder as police also found wounds on different parts of his body. The unidentified killers had taken away his mobile phone and purse. Police have registered a case against the unknown killers on the complaint of deceased's father, Abdul Rasool with no arrest so far.
