ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari administered oath to Senator Dr Asim Hussain as the federal minister for petroleum and natural resources in a bid to resolve prevailing acute energy shortage in the country. Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, Secretary General M Salman Faruqui, Minister of State for Communication Chaudhry Imtiaz Safdar Waraich, senators Syeda Sughra Imam and Faisal Raza Abadi, MNAs Fouzia Habib and Farhanaz Ispahani and other high-ups attended the oath-taking ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Earlier, President Zardari reappointed Dr Asim as an adviser to the PM on petroleum and he was ordered by Prime Minister Gilani to embark on an ambitious plan to overcome energy crisis. Senator Asim, who is a close aide of President Zardari, has already been enjoying all perks of a federal minister in the capacity of petroleum adviser.
