Lahore - The National Vision Think Tank organised a special session titled “New Challenges of Traffic Police in changing circumstances.”Lahore CTO DIG Dr. Athar Waheed was the Chief Guest. The participants included Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim, Ahsan Zia, Bilal Butt, Ashraf Sohail, Aamir Malik, Mujahid Sheikh, Sardar Asif Sial, Ishaq Gujar, Hamza Chaudhry, Jamshed Khan and Mohammad Noman. Addressing the ceremony, DIG Athar Waheed said that strict laws and sentences were being introduced to improve the traffic system and prevent violations of traffic laws in the provincial Metropolice shortly. Strict action against citizens who did not obey traffic laws would be taken. He said that civilsed nations are known for their respect for traffic laws. He maintained that the worth of penalties is also being increased The CTO was of the view that placing police pickets on every nook and corner does not serve the purpose and reduce crimes, instead it increases the public’s anxiety. They should focus more on discharging their duties in plain cloth most of the time, he added.
