KANDHKOT - As the sweltering summer heat intensifies, the demand of cold juices and drinks increases manifold mainly the temperature touches 40 to 45.
Due to sizzling hot days, the people of various community have set up their temporary stalls at different parts of city. However it was observed the people of those hot areas rush to various cold drink stalls and shops such as ice cones, lemon juices, sugarcane, kulfa, milkshake, faloda, ice cream to beat the summer heat. People of quetta and peshawar have set up their temporary shops, stalls as well as carts of cold faloda, lemon, ice , sugercane , ornage, cones goalas and local made juices in the markets. It was also observed local people also have set up their stalls of traditional cold TAADAL in the city especially at bypass, highway roads, various stops of bus van and couch where hundreds of passengers on daily basis beat themselves from heat. Ali khan, Naimatullah, Wazir khan stall owners of cold drinks claimed that the scorching heat is dangerous especially for children and older people who have a weaker immune system. Problems like dehydration and heat strokes are common. Although soft drinks may provide relief, it’s not the best solution. Nothing beats the health benefits of clean water and fresh juices. it was fact that these chilled juices of various flavours always had beaten the sizzling hot days. Hundreds of the people including men, women, children come to here for getting chilled. They said that mostly people drink milkshake and sugarcane to quench their thirst in these summer hot days and on a question they replied that they have been belonging same community they always remain busy in serving people with cold juices and drinks in these hot days while in winter weather they provide warm items to the people . When this scribe approched to child specialist he told that these drinks are prepared of only saccharine which is very harmful for the children. He further said juices or other drinks which are prepared in the homes are very useful and also energetic for the every age limit particularly children. He also informed that they don’t wash their hands as well as utensils while serve the food and drinks to the people. It is worthy to mention here that due to negligence from the district administration the sell of unhygienic and substandard food and drinks have been increased throughout the district. It was observed that in hot days of summer vendors always set up their temporary stalls of unhygienic food and drinks near main gates of schools, hospitals and other public places where teenagers and minors demand to consume these spurious and substandard food and drinks.
