LAHORE  -  The long-standing efforts of Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed, President of Lahore Regional Cricket Association (LRCA), to revive cricket at the iconic Minto Park have finally borne fruit. On the special directive of former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and through Khawaja Nadeem’s dedicated lobbying, the Punjab government has given the green light to restore the cricket ground in Minto Park, Lahore.

In this regard, Khawaja Nadeem held a detailed meeting with Punjab’s Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering, Bilal Yasin, to discuss the swift development of the new cricket ground. During the meeting, Minister Yasin assured full government support not only for the establishment of the cricket ground in Minto Park but also for the renovation of the adjacent Abdul Razzaq Stadium. The goal is to provide quality sporting facilities and healthy recreational opportunities for the residents of North Zone and surrounding areas.

The LRCA chief expressed his gratitude to the Punjab government, Minister Bilal Yasin, and especially Mian Nawaz Sharif for prioritizing this initiative. He expressed hope that cricketing vibrancy will once again return to Minto Park — a ground historically known for producing numerous legendary Test and international cricketers for Pakistan.

The decision has sparked a wave of excitement and celebration among local cricket organizers and players, who see this as a major step towards reviving the grassroots cricketing ecosystem in the city.
