Lakki marwat - Government officials and local elders have agreed to establish additional check posts at sensitive locations and launch a full-scale operation against terrorists in the Lakki Marwat district.
The consensus was reached during a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the District Headquarters Complex, Tajazai.
The government was represented by Bannu Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shah, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan, Brigadier Imran Aslam, Deputy Commissioner Zeeshan Abdullah, and other senior officials.
Former district Naib Nazim Arab Khan, Malik Muhammad Idrees Khan, Maulana Samiullah Mujahid, and other notable elders were also in attendance.
Participants from both sides discussed the law and order situation and emphasized the need for an effective strategy to combat the menace of terrorism.
Recent terrorist incidents were also reviewed, and the elders offered valuable suggestions for establishing lasting peace in the area.
A government official said that the establishment of additional check posts and the initiation of a comprehensive anti-terror operation would help improve security and restore normalcy in the region.
The elders urged the government officials to take concrete steps to address the public’s problems and recommended that the coordination committee meet on a monthly basis to strengthen liaison between the community and law enforcement agencies.
The divisional commissioner emphasized that lasting peace is essential for regional development and public welfare, adding that the involvement of local elders in peace initiatives has begun to yield positive results.
The regional police chief noted that restoring public trust through effective community policing remains his top priority, and all available resources are being utilized to achieve this goal.
He added that joint efforts by the police, security forces, other law enforcement agencies (LEAs), and the public would be key to completely eradicating terrorism from the region.
