VEHARI - An oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected office-bearers of student councils was held at Government Model Higher Secondary School Vehari, with CEO Education Vehari Mr Nasir Aziz as the chief guest. Under his supervision, District Education Officer (Secondary) Ms Shazia Anwar administered the oath to the students. Student council elections were conducted in 460 schools across the district, where 1,513 students contested for the position of President, while 1,544 boys and 2,136 girls ran for the posts of Vice President, General Secretary, and Finance Secretary. A total of 150,955 students cast their votes in this democratic exercise. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nasir Aziz emphasized that student councils are instrumental in developing leadership qualities, decision-making, and organizational skills among students, and will produce future leaders at national and provincial levels. He added that such platforms foster confidence, responsibility, and problem-solving abilities in students. Ms. Shazia Anwar stated that student councils promote democratic values and support school administrations in improving discipline. Headmasters Mr Zafar Jameel and Mr Munir Joi, along with teachers Ms Kiran Ashfaq, Ms Amber, Mr Muhammad Yasir and a large number of students were also present at the event.
