LAHORE - Police has ramped up its efforts to crackdown on illegal gambling dens and online betting operations across the city. According to the spokesman Lahore Police, 1,518 suspects have been arrested this year in connection with gambling-related offenses and 383 cases have been registered at various police stations of the city. The spokesman added that over Rs.8.086 million in gambling proceeds have been recovered during these operations. Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that the campaign against gambling will continue. He directed the police to intensify the crackdown on gambling establishments and to take strict action against those operating such setups, regardless of their influence or status. The CCPO also emphasised the need to tighten the noose around individuals involved in online gambling, urging the use of advanced information technology tools to detect and dismantle digital gambling networks. He called for surveillance of social media accounts promoting gambling content. The elements involved in gambling will be brought to justice, he said.
