LAHORE - In the wake of the reports from intelligence agencies indicating high risk, the City Police have placed barricades at more than 230 points to avert any untoward incident in the provincial metropolis. About 20 army officers besides a large number of Rangers and police officers have been deployed at the police training centres of Manawan and Bedian. Rangers and police personnel have also been deputed at the FIA building. A police source said that entry to FIA building of others than the persons concerned has been banned. Extra policemen were also being deputed at all the entry and exit points of the City while snap-checking of the vehicles to keep a check on the activities of terrorists and non-state actors was also in progress. According to the plan, all station house officers will visit mosques and imambargahs in their areas to review security arrangements. Sources claimed that plain-clothed policemen have been deployed in all the areas identified as sensitive points. Meanwhile, SSP (Operations) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmad has ordered to ensure foolproof security at bus stands, markets, parking places, hospitals, schools, mosques, shrines, madarassas, Chuhang Police Training Centre, Abbas Lines, Qurban Lines, Police Lines, Punjab Assembly, Traffic Police Lines, Secretariat, CCPO office, SSP office, Investigation Headquarters and at all other sensitive points and government installations. Need of unity stressed Former Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed has stressed upon unity among different sects, saying that collective efforts were required to face the present challenges faced by Muslim Ummah and Pakistan. He was addressing 'Quran-Noor-e-Hadayat Conference organised by Imamia Students Organisation on the eve of its 39 annual convention here on Saturday. President Anjuman Tulaba-e-Islam Jawad-ul-Hassan Kazmi, Qazi Niaz Hussain Naqvi, Shehansha Naqvi and Syed Hassan Zaidi also addressed the participants. Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that the enemy was bent upon damaging the image of Islam and the Muslim should fight jointly to frustrate the nefarious designs. He said that the entire nation was united and the Pakistan would remain as a sovereign state.
