Govt failing to bring positive change: Siraj

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the party coming to power with the slogan of change had not provided any relief to the common man, with the only visible change being an increase in the prices.

He was addressing the Khatme Nabuwat Conference on Thursday. He said that the people who were ruling the country for almost the last seven decades had divided the nation in numerous groups and made the county slave of IMF despite its rich mineral resources.

Siraj said that the IMF was dictating the prices of common items and the government had no economic policy. He said that this had caused deep concern among the masses. Earlier, while talking to the office bearers of the JI Youth, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was saying that the country’s economy had been ruined and clearing the past loans had become difficult.

In such a situation, he said, why was the government seeking fresh loans from the IMF. He said that instead going for fresh loans, the government should cut down its expenditure and also strive for the recovery of the ill-gotten wealth of the plunderers.

He said that the JI was holding a conference of economic experts in Islamabad on October 24 that would suggest ways and means to overcome the economic crisis.
