Top intelligence slot will soon have a new name

ISLAMABAD- The name of a new director general for the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is likely to be announced next week along with the appointment of five new lieutenant generals in the Pakistan Army, a BBC report said.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif wants to promote certain military officials from the rank of Major General to that of Lieutenant General before naming the new ISI chief.

A dialogue is underway between the Prime Minister House and the General Headquarters on the ISI chief's appointment. Close aides of the PM confirmed that no formal discussion had taken place. According to sources, PM Nawaz Sharif has been considering a couple of names for the top intelligence slot.
