Multan - The arrival of cotton at ginning factories has increased by 11 per cent during first fortnight of the ongoing month compared to the corresponding period last year, disclosed a fortnightly cotton arrival report released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here on Saturday.
Briefing the journalists on the report, the PCGA chairman Hafeez Anwar said that 1,48,63,963 cotton bales were sourced to the ginning factories across the country by April 15 compared to last year’s 1,33,90,788 bales. Giving further details, he said that 1,39,53,063 cotton bales were sold to the textile units and exporters bought 4,75,174 bales. Trading Corporation purchased 94,900 bales Thus, overall 1,45,23,137 bales were traded so far.He said that PCGA was following the production target of Pakistan Central Cotton Committee . PCGA Chairman Hafeez Anwar said that total 25 (23 in Punjab and 2 in sindh) out of 1200 ginning factories are operational in two provinces. The chairman of PCGA said that Punjab contributed 1,08,89,463 bales which 13.07 percent more than last year when Punjab contributed 96,30,656 bales , Sindh contributed 39,74,500 bales which 5.70 percent more than last year when it contributed 37,60,132 bales and Balochistan 77,002 bales. After the total trading of 1,45,23,137 bales,there are 3,40,826 bales available with ginners as unsold stock. He was pessimistic about stability of prices of cotton in the market . District wise cotton arrival in Punjab: Multan 4,98,065 bales which are 0.44 percent more than last year, Lodhran 3,73,711 bales 3.31% decrease, Khanewal 9,88,605 showing an increase of 5.56 %, Muzaffargarh 4,94,324 bales 19.41 % increase, Dera Ghazi Khan 4,92,247 bales showed an increase of 24.89 %, Rajanpur 5,68,215 bales showing an increase of 38.06 % .Layyah- 3,95,328 bales 42.05 % more than last year,Vehari 8,09,733 bales showing a decrease of 7.62 % , Sahiwal 6,02,106 bales increased by 12.68 % ,Pakpattan 1,73,503 showing 0.11 % more than preceding year ,Okara 52,728 showing an increase of 15.65 %, Kasur 22,400 bales 21.09 % less than last year, Toba Tek Singh,3,32,163 bales (an increase of 41.37 % ) ,Faisalabad 98,733 (increase 53.82 %),Jhang 74,084 (37.34 % short), Mianwali 4,63,887 bales (49.44 % increase), Bhakkar 1,93,750 showing an increase of 9.94 % , Sargodha 26,582 bales (30.96 % Short) ,RahimyarKhan 14,11,756 bales an increase of 19.19 % , Bahawalpur 13,38,356 bales (an increase of 20.61 ) , Bahawalnagar 14,79,087 bales showing an increase of 4.28 %. District wise cotton arrival in Sindh, Hyderabad 2,66,731 showing decrease of 10.83 % . Mirpur Khas ,4,03,461 showing an increase of 11.44% Sangarh 15,14.268 an increase of 7.81 %, Nawabshah 3,13,761 ,an increase 7.09 % Naushero Feroze 2,58,265 an increase of 3.18 % , Khairpur 2,50,548 an increase of 4.23 %, Ghotki 2,28,311 bales an increase of 7.55 % ,Sukkur, 4,15,889 an increase of 15.81 Dadu 44,664 an increase of 25.81 Jamshoro 1,46,900 bales shortage of 21.61 % Badeen 54,700 an increase of 2.20, and Baluchistan 77,002 bales an increase of 22.13 %.
Ginneries received 25,358 bales during the fortnight of April Ist to April 15th,2015 Unsold stock is 3,40,826 which is less than last year when it reached to 5.60,816 bales.
