Thanking Traffic Police

The role played by the traffic police during Ramadan deserves heartfelt appreciation. Their approach made fasting more convenient and allowed many to experience the spiritual beauty of places like the Margalla Hills without unnecessary stress. I personally visited the hills frequently during the holy month to break my fast, and despite not wearing a helmet, I was never stopped by the traffic police. Their leniency, particularly during iftar hours, reflected not indifference to the law, but an understanding of religious sensitivities and the need for compassion.

This gesture deeply moved me. It signalled how a country like Pakistan, rooted in Islamic values, can show flexibility and kindness during religious observances. Rather than insisting on paperwork or strict enforcement, the traffic police chose to support those who were fasting, allowing them to reach their destinations without delay.

Their conduct throughout Ramadan demonstrated how public service can align with Islamic principles of ease and empathy. The way they treated travellers—especially those rushing to break their fasts on time—was admirable and inspiring. For me, and surely for many others, this experience highlighted the human side of our law enforcement. We hope such thoughtful enforcement continues in future.
