3,652 profiteers fined, 63 arrested in Ramazan

FAISALABAD - On the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a vigorous campaign against the profiteers is continued under the supervision of district administration to curb the negative trend of price-hike during holy month of Ramazan.
In this regard, the special price magistrates conducted 6,666 raids during Ramazan up till now in different markets of the district to check the prices of essential commodities and total number of 3,652 profiteers were fined of more than Rs4 million for receiving exorbitant prices of different food items.
More than, 44 cases have been lodged by the special price magistrates with different police station against the profiteers and 63 people arrested involved in serious violations of Price Control Act.
DCO Naseem Sadiq said that operation against the profiteers was continue successfully which helped in controlling the unjustified price-hike of the essential items and the consumers were feeling relief from these preventive measures.
