RAWALPINDI – Foolproof security arrangements have been directed for Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Imdad Ullah Bosal has issued special directives to the police officers of all districts of the division that elaborate security arrangements should be made for the protection of the citizens. He further directed that the presence of police officials at all important places should also be ensured.
The Commissioner said that the staff deployed on security duty should have metal detectors. Walkthrough gates should also be installed on important Eid prayer gatherings. He said strict action in accordance with the law should also be taken against one-wheelers. 
The Commissioner directed that senior officials at tehsil level while District Coordination Officers (DCOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) at district level should supervise the security arrangements directly so that no untoward incident could take place and these important occasions could be passed peacefully.
He directed traffic police should perform their duties on roads with dedication and traffic plan should be followed for the smooth flow of traffic so that citizens especially ladies could not face any sort of traffic problem during Eid shopping on Chand Raat. Meanwhile City police claimed to have made foolproof security arrangements for the protection of the people at various shopping centres, markets and public places.
To ensure security of female, lady police have also been deployed in various busy shopping malls at Saddar Bazaar, Raja Bazaar, Moti Bazaar and other busy markets of the city. According to police security plan, law enforcers have been deployed in plain clothes at various sensitive areas and close circuit cameras are working in different busy bazaars, parks and other public places.
Superintendent Police, Potohar Town Hassib Shah told APP that police have been put on high alert to avert terrorism bids ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations and leaves of all policemen were stand cancelled. He said patrolling of security staff has been enhanced in bazaars, markets and eid shopping malls.
He said that female and male police personnel in plain cloths have been deputed at public places for safety purposes. The SHOs have been directed to make regular patrolling in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) have chalked out a comprehensive plan for Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr.  Under the traffic plan, enhanced number of traffic wardens will be deployed in main city areas aimed at avoiding traffic mess on Chand Raat and during Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.
A control room has been set up at Traffic Police Headquarters to monitor the situation. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Superintendent Police Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah told APP that allout efforts would be made to control traffic on city roads, especially on Chand Raat.
He said that one-wheelers would be dealt in accordance with the law. Traffic wardens have been directed to impound motorcycles of one-wheelers in respective police stations besides registration of cases against them.  He said those found involved in one-wheeling will be sent behind the bars under section 99/A.
He urged the citizens particularly parents that they should come forward and play their role to curb the activity as one wheeling, rash and negligent driving are the main causes for fatal accidents. All the traffic officers and wardens have also been directed to remain present at their duty points in order to control traffic, he added.
Ishtiaq Shah told that all out efforts are being made by Rawalpindi Traffic Police to facilitate the road users so that they could get uninterrupted traffic flow and reach their destination within shortest possible time.
He said in view of the security of the citizens, special traffic arrangements have been made. Parking of vehicles near Mosques, Imam Bargahs and other religious places is not allowed. Under the plan, traffic police officers have been directed to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious vehicles. Strict action in accordance with the law has also been ordered against vehicles having tinted glasses or moving in the city without number plates, he added.
The CTO said traffic wardens have also been directed to work with dedication and commitment and ensure the traffic flow so that traffic mess particularly on congested roads could be averted and the citizens could be provided.
