NAROWAL - One liquor smuggler was killed and another got bullet injuries while their three accomplices managed to escape when Rangers opened fire on them crossing border into Pakistan from India near village Daud here the other night.
Reportedly, five men crossed border into Pakistan from India along with a heavy consignment of Indian liquor when Pakistan Rangers spotted them inside the Pakistani territory near village Daud Narowal.
The Rangers ordered them to stop and surrender themselves but they attempted to escape taking the advantage of the darkness of the night. Resultantly, the Rangers opened fire on them. As a result, two of them got bullet injuries while three others succeeded in escaping from the scene. One of the injured was later identified as Abdul Majeed alias Bhutto, a resident of village Bhenian, died of injuries on the spot while the other injured was identified as Muhammad Tanveer, a resident of Kamoke.
The Pakistan Rangers also recovered 148 bottles of Indian liquor from their procession.
Man electrocuted: A 35-year-old man was electrocuted in village Dhalyana here the other day.
As per detail, Mumtaz Ali was setting at a furniture shop. Meanwhile, he suffered electricity shocks when he tried to run a machine. He died on the spot.
