SAHIWAL-The Returning Officer reserved a verdict on objections to the nomination papers of both the PML-N and PTI candidates to be announced on Friday (today), while accepted the nomination papers of 12 other candidates for the by-election to NA-162 Chichawatni.
Returning Officer Rana Abdul Ghaffar reserved the decision on objections raised by rivals to the nomination papers of PML-N candidate for by-election to NA-162, former MNA Zahid Iqbal and PTI candidate former MNA Rai Hassan Nawaz till 10am on Friday (today).
The RO also accepted the nomination of 12 candidates for the by-elections to NA 162. The candidates are: Haji Muhammad Ayub, Rai Murtaza Iqbal, nephew of Rai Hassan Nawaz, former tehsil nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail, Haji Muhammad Aslam, Imran Afzal, Basit Riaz, Chaudhry Muhammad Tahir, Shehzad Ahmed Cheema, Maj (r) Ghulam Mohiuddin of the PPP, former MPA Shehzad Cheema, Raja Inamul Haq, and Abdul Jabbar.
The polling for the by-election to NA-162 will be held on September 19. The National Assembly seat NA-162 fell vacant after Election Tribunal Multan disqualified PTI MNA Rai Hassan Nawaz over concealing details of assets. The Supreme Court later upheld the verdict and ordered re-election in the constituency.
