PFF delegation meets AFC leadership to drive football development in Pakistan

LAHORE  -  A high-level delegation from Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), led by President Syed Mohsen Gilani, visited the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to hold strategic discussions aimed at accelerating the growth of football in Pakistan.

The meeting underlined Pakistan’s commitment to football development while reaffirming AFC’s continued support under the leadership of its President, His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa. The PFF delegation included Vice President Zaka Ullah, Acting General Secretary Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar, and Director International Relations & Development Omair Ullah Khan.

On behalf of the AFC, the meeting was headed by General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John, accompanied by senior officials including Deputy General Secretary Shin Man Gil, Director Finance, HR & IT B. Chandra Mohan, Director Legal Affairs Andrew Mercer, Director Commercial Department Andrew Rogers, Head of Football Development Jose Marcelino Z. Carpio, and Senior Manager of the South Asia Unit, MA Division, Sonam Jigmi.

The presence of such a diverse group of AFC executives reflected the strategic importance of Pakistan in the region’s football ecosystem. The discussions revolved around strengthening football infrastructure, enhancing governance structures, youth and grassroots development, technical advancement, and long-term AFC–PFF collaboration to uplift the game in Pakistan.

Speaking at the occasion, PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani expressed gratitude to the AFC leadership. “This visit reflects the profound all-round support of the AFC, under the vision of its President, His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, for the development of football in Pakistan. We greatly value the guidance and leadership of AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John, whose consistent support has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of PFF’s administration and progress on all fronts.”

The meeting concluded with both sides reiterating their commitment to building a sustainable football ecosystem in Pakistan, with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth, improving facilities, and raising Pakistan’s football profile on the international stage.
