PJA hosts Independence Day Women’s Judo C’ship

LAHORE   -   The Punjab Judo Association (PJA) organised the Independence Day Women’s Judo Championship at Lahore Garrison University, DHA, as part of the Marka-e-Haq celebrations marking Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day. Women judokas from Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Sargodha showcased their skills in nine weight categories. Lahore Garrison University VC Maj Gen (R) Khalil Dar graced the occasion as chief guest, while PJA President Asif Iqbal Khan, PJF VP Col Ghulam Murtaza, and PJA Chairman Qamar Shakeel were also present. At the conclusion, certificates were awarded to the top performers. Gujranwala’s Hareema Hammad and Hamda Hammad won the 30kg and 40kg titles respectively, while Lahore’s Amma, Sahil, and Samman Saeed dominated in the 44kg, 48kg, and 52kg categories. Faryal of Lahore took gold in 57kg, with Gujranwala’s Salsabeel triumphing in the 63kg event and Amsal winning the 70kg title. In the open-weight category, Lahore’s Amna Shamas secured first place, while Mukarma Butt of Sargodha finished runner-up. 

The championship not only celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day but also highlighted the growing strength and talent of women’s judo across Punjab.
