Fakhar makes 165 in Karachi Zebras victory

ISLAMABAD - Fakhar Zaman played a classic 165-run knock to help Karachi Zebras thrash Rawalpindi Rams by 144 runs in the One-Day Cup 2013-14 sixth round Group-I match at Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Error of judgment by the Rawalpindi skipper cost them dearly as after winning the toss he invited Karachi to bat first. Fakhar Zaman hit 20 boundaries and five sixes to score 165 off 137 balls while Ali Mudassar added 37 as Karachi posted a mammoth total of 314-9 in 45 overs. Naveed Malik took 4-35 and Naveed Saeed 2-44.
Rawalpindi were bowled out for 170 runs in 38.4 overs. Pindi were in trouble as they had lost five wickets at 72. It was the sixth-wicket stand between Ghulam Murtaza and Muzammil Nizam which helped Pindi put up some respectable total as both the players scored 51 runs each. Waqas Anwar clinched 5-34, Faraz Ahmed 3-19 and Ali Mudassar 2-25.
At Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar thrashed Lahore crushed by nine wickets. Lahore were bowled out for paltry 68 runs in 24.2 overs. Azam Khan ripped through Lahore batting claiming 7-18 while Taj Wali got 3-19. Peshawar achieved the target in 8.1 overs losing just one wicket. Israrullah made unbeaten 43.
In Group-II tie played at Diamond Club Ground, Islamabad Leopards beat Quetta Bears by 60 runs. Islamabad were all out for 198 in 45 overs with Salman Hadier scoring 60 runs. Gohar Faiz took 3-20 while Arun Lal and Sher-e-Hasan got two wickets each. Quetta were all out for 138 in 36.3 overs. Abdul Rauf made 46 and Sher-e-Hasan 44. Shehzad Azam claimed 4-10 and Hamza Nadeem 3-34.
