Senate given names of 61 banned outfits

ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control on Friday presented names of 61 proscribed/banned organisations in Upper House of the Parliament, which had been banned to carry out their activities in the country.
The house was also apprised that two organisations Al-Akhtar Trust and Al-Rashid Trust were enlisted under “UNSCR 1267”, while Jamaat-ul-Daawa (JuD) was under observation since December 1, 2005.
Minister of State for Interior Baligh-ur-Rehman said any organisation found involved in terrorism and extremism activities would not be allowed to operate in the country. Under the National Action Plan, he said, the ministry and provincial governments had taken appropriate measures to stop banned outfits of re-emerging with new names.
Baligh also informed the Senate that 637 terrorists had been killed and 710 others had been arrested in 1,113 terrorism related incidents across the country during the current year so far. Giving break-up, during the question-hour, he said 55 terrorists had been killed in Punjab, 36 in Sindh, 73 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 98 in Balochistan, 373 in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), one each in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and Gilgit-Baltistan.
While, 24 terrorism related incidents took place in Punjab, 28 in Sindh, 193 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 191 in Balochistan, 670 in FATA, one in ICT and six in Gilgit-Baltistan during the said period. Commenting on the apprehended terrorists, the minister said, two terrorists had been arrested in Punjab, 52 in Sindh, 301 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 267in Balochistan and 88 in FATA.
