5 suspects among 10 people killed in Karachi

KARACHI - Five suspected militants among 10 people were killed here on Tuesday.
The bodies of suspected militants of four were found from Zero Point in Surjani Police precincts.
The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later to morgue. Three of them were identified as Samiullah, 25, Hafiz, 30, and Faisal Abrar, 32, while the fourth victim has yet to be identified.
According to SHO Bashir Waddo, several marks of torture were found on their bodies. He said the victims were kidnapped. After torturing, the culprits brought all the four victims in two vehicles at an abandoned place where they shot them multiple times before fleeing.
Police sources said the victims were Afghan nationals and Pushtoon, and were allegedly affiliated with the militant outfits. Police have also found 10 empty shells of 9mm pistols from the crime scene and registered a case against unidentified persons.
In another incident, one Maher Khan, 50, was found dead near Malir River. Police officials said the victim was the resident of Korangi area. He had a criminal record and was shot four times by unidentified persons over unexplained reasons.
A rickshaw driver Wasif Nazeer, 30, was shot dead in Sikander Goth area. Police officials said the victim was the resident of Bhittaiabad area of Sacchal. Initial investigation suggested the incident occurred when the victim offered resistance in a robbing bid. The body was handed over to the family after medicolegal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
A labourer Afroze Hussain, 40, was shot dead in Sector 11.5 in Orangi Town. Police officials said he was a worker at a shoe factory at Orangi Town. Initial investigation suggested he was killed on sectarian grounds.
Similarly, Syed Azeem Hussain, 22, was shot dead in Orangi Town when he was sitting near his home. Police officials also suspected the victim was killed over sectarian basis.
A seminary teacher Qari Abdul Rauf, 40, was shot dead in his house in Mehran Town area of Korangi. Police officials said unidentified persons entered the house and escaped after shooting him apparently over personal enmity.
A pickup driver Abdul Rasheed, 40, was shot dead when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at the vehicle in Patel Para area of Jamshed Quarters. The victim was the resident of Liaquatabad area. Police officials said the victim’s son was also travelling along with him, however, he remained safe in the attack. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
