PM’s statement on NAB vindicates PPP stance: Naek

Rawalpindi - Former Chairan Senate and lawyer of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in asset reference case, Farooq H Naek has said that Pakistan Peoples Party is the only party which has continuously been criticising the accountability laws.
He said that statement of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against NAB’s acts of harassment to innocent people was actually an endorsement of PPP claim. Farooq H Naek said this while talking to media persons after the hearing of asset reference case against former President Asif Ali Zardari in an accountability court of Rawalpindi.
Naek said that criticism by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was actually an endorsement of the stance of all political parties against the accountability laws.
He said that the PPP when it was in the government tried to bring a law in the parliament against the NAB but the law could not be passed due to opposition by the PML-N and the MQM. He said that the PML-N has changes its stance but the PPP has never changed its stance on important issues.
Earlier, Accountability Court Number 4 Special Judge Khalid Mahmood Ranjah deferred the hearing in a corruption reference against Zardari till February 24. He cross-examined Jamil Khan, NAB assistant director and the investigation officer.
The court also issued summons for three more prosecution witnesses in the case.
