SARGODHA - FARHAT ABBAS - Armed motorcyclists gunned down three activists of Ahl-e-Sunnat-wal-Jamaat and injured five persons, including ASWJ Punjab Naib Amir Maulana Abdul Hameed Khalid, in the precincts of the city police.
According to details, Maulana Abdul Hameed Khalid was coming from Bhakkar after appearing in an anti-terrorism court on Saturday morning. When their vehicle reached near Noori Gate, all of a sudden armed motorcyclists sprayed a volley of bullets on them. As a result, Zulfiquar, Tippu and Sanaullah were killed on the spot while Maulana Abdul Hameed Khalid and his four companions injured and shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Sargodha where condition of the two injured was reported to be critical. On receiving information, police reached the spot while the attackers managed to escape. Infuriated activists of Ahl-e-Sunnat-wal-Jamaat came on the roads and staged a protest against the incident. They burnt tyres and shouted slogans. The protesters blocked traffic on various roads of the city while a shutter-down strike was observed in bazaars and markets.
