Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, addressing the Sialkot Chambers of Commerce and Industry, asserted that he would not step down as the elements who have been rejected by the nation are demanding him to tender his resignation.
He said that load shedding will be completely ousted from the country in 2018, and told that new power plants are being built rapidly. He also mentioned about the motorway projects that are being completed very quickly.
It is worth mentioning here that the opposition has united after the Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) submitted its report in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan, and is demanding Nawaz to step down due to corruption charges.
He said that certain elements are attempting to fail China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The prime minister claimed that the country was seeing power outages of at least 16 hours in 2013 and it was being speculated that Pakistan would go bankrupt.
PM Nawaz held the opposition responsible for delayed implementation of CPEC. He claimed that the opposition parties were preparing to stage a third sit-in, predecessors of which had toll on economy.
He further said that the opposition parties would not be voted to power by the people in General Elections 2018 no matter how hard his political rivals try. He said that the people of Pakistan know who are conspiring against the country’s development.
The premier said if he is facing accountability today, then others, too, will be held accountable tomorrow.
“Even if only I am being held accountable, it doesn’t matter as someone is being held accountable,” said Sharif.
The stock exchange suffered as a result of the ongoing controversy, he claimed.
The prime minister said those who have been rejected repeatedly are demanding his resignation.
“What corruption are they talking about?” wonder the prime minister, saying not a single penny from public funds has ever been misappropriated in his tenure.
