ISLAMABAD – A weeklong Annual Sports Gala of Sweet Home kids titled `Angels on Earth’ would begin from Monday in Jinnah Sports Stadium, Managing Director Pakistan Baitul Mal Zamurrad Khan said.
Addressing a Press Conference here at National Press Club he said a total of 2800 kids from 28 cities would participate in the annual sports gala. The children from sweet homes will present music, tableaus, sports and parade in the eight-day event, which will conclude on March 26.
Pakistan Cricket Team players including Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Chaudhary Zaka Ashraf will attend the concluding ceremony on March 26. The cricketers have expressed their willingness to join hands with Pakistan Baitul Mal to ensure the provision of basic amenities to the children of Sweet Homes, he said.
“Pakistan’s Sweet Homes project is a huge success and will be more prosperous in the coming future as annual donations worth Rs 100 million will keep pouring for it- no matters PPP government remains in office or not,” Zammurd Khan said. A total of nine sweet homes have completely been sponsored for next 14 years and are being run with donations from various philanthropists. Zamurrad Khan said the children living at these sweet homes are enrolled in renowned private schools and will stay there until graduation.
“Pakistan Sweet Homes (PSH) had been established in different cities depending on the number of orphan children,” he said. He said under PSH project, orphan’s hailing from all over the country between ages of 4-6 have been enrolled.
They are provided with free food, shelter, boarding facility and quality education in the renowned educational intuitions of the area. So far, over 28 PSH have been established all over Pakistan in which 2800 children are spending life of hope, felicitation and respect, he added.
He was planning to start across country visit to bring orphan girls from 4 to 6 years also in the Sweet Homes. During the celebrations over 50,000 children from various schools will participate in Pakistan day celebrations in Jinnah Stadium on March 23.
While the orphans from 4 to 8 years would undertake a peace walk on March 24,he said. Last year the annual sports gala was attended by 1500 children whereas this year 2800 children are participating.
